Alex Smith Interest In Reuniting With Browns OC Norv Turner?

Alex Smith told reporters that he “loved” playing for new Browns OC Norv Turner during their time together in San Francisco.

“Loved my time with Norv,” said Smith, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “…He’s a great play caller. I just remember he had a great feel for the game on gameday and a great feel for what the defense was doing, and like I said, very QB friendly.”

Cabot adds that a league source mentioned that playing for Turner “would pique Smith’s interest.

Smith wasn’t willing to go that far, but the Browns are clearly a potential landing spot. Whether or not they’re willing to trade for him remains to be seen, but there’s a chance they could be one of the more aggressive suitors if he’s released by the 49ers.

A report from Ian Rapoport mentioned that San Francisco is prepared to shop him around the league, but will release him if they’re unable to find an interested team.

We should know more about the potential trade market for Smith sometime next week.
