NFL.com reports that the Bears have successfully signed WR Alshon Jeffrey, recently drafted from the University of South Carolina.
Jeffrey was the #45 pick overall and will join Brandon Marshall, acquired from the Dolphins via trade, on the Bears receiving squad. Jeffrey is expected to be the #2 WR and could challenge Marshall for the number one spot after he is allowed some time to develop. QB Jay Cutler now has two large receiving targets, which should cause match-up nightmares for defenses, assuming of course that Jeffrey can keep in shape. There were a number of concerns about Jeffrey’s motivation and fitness, and while many scouts were convinced by his strong pro day, some believe Jeffrey represents a bit of a risk for the Bears.
Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.
