Andre Johnson Frustrated With His Current Situation In Houston

Texans WR Andre Johnson expressed some frustration with the team’s offseason and seemed to question if he still fit in with the team’s direction.

“This offseason has been very frustrating for me,” Johnson said, via Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.

Johnson even wonder; “Is this still the place for me?

Despite Johnson’s level of frustration with his current situation, he mentioned that he hasn’t requested a trade out of Houston, but he has been in contact with the Texans on a weekly basis, according to Smith.

“We’ve talked. They understand how I feel,” Johnson said, per Smith. “I just look at my career. … I’ve only been to the playoffs twice.

As things stand right now, Johnson doesn’t have any plans to attend the Texans’ OTAs or minicamp.

Smith mentions that Johnson has been frustrated with the team’s situation in the past, but hasn’t expressed any concerns to the media before this.

Johnson, 32, still has three years remaining on his seven-year, $62.7 million contract. He’s set to make $6.5 million for the 2014 season before his base salary increases to $10.5 million in 2015.

There’s no question that Johnson remains the Texans best receiver even after they used a first-round pick on DeAndre Hopkins last year. However, it will be interesting to see how this situation plays out this year and heading into the offseason in 2015.

In 2013, Johnson caught 109 passes for 1,407 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
