Andre Johnson Wants To Finish Out His Career With The Texans

Andre Johnson ended his holdout and reported to Texans’ training camp on Friday, despite not receiving any amount of monetary compensation from Houston.

Johnson told reporters that his decision was influenced by his love for the game.

I love playing the game of football,” Johnson said, via Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle. “I don’t plan on walking away from this.”

Interestingly enough, Johnson even mentioned that he would like to finish out his career with the Texans.

“That’s the plan,” Johnson said.

It is a little surprising to see how things have played out for Johnson in recent months.

Johnson’s absence from offseason workouts was reportedly related to a “standoff” involving a $1 million workout bonus, but it appears as though he is comfortable with the team and where they are headed to push the issue any further.

Johnson, 33, still has three years remaining on his seven-year, $62.7 million contract. He’s set to make $6.5 million for the 2014 season before his base salary increases to $10.5 million in 2015.

Last year, Johnson caught 109 passes for 1,407 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
