Asante Samuel A “Longshot” To Be Back In Philly Next Season?

Reuben Frank of CSN Philly considers it a “longshot” that the Philadelphia Eagles will have Asante Samuel on the team next season, mainly because of his $10.5 million cap figure.

Frank mentions that, while Cullen Jenkins was willing to restructure his current contract, there has been no indication that Samuel would be willing to lower his figure.

The trade rumors have already started for Samuel and he even took to Twitter to poll his followers, asking where he should go next season. Reports have indicated that the Eagles will be shopping the 31-year-old throughout the offseason but their asking has yet to be determined. Working against him and the Eagles is the fact that, cornerback is a pretty deep position in their years free agent class so teams should be able to find some better values without trading draft picks away.
