Austin Seferian-Jenkins Reportedly Turned Down Two-Year, $8M Offer From Jets

According to Ralph Vacchiano, Jets free agent TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has already turned down a two-year, $8 million contract from New York.

Vacchiano says that the deal offered by the Jets was short on guarantees and total value.

Even so, Vacchiano expects the Jets and Seferian-Jenkins’ representatives to talk again in the coming weeks and eventually work something out.

Seferian-Jenkins, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2014. The Buccaneers elected to move on from Seferian-Jenkins a few years ago after he was arrested for driving under the influence and he was later claimed off of waivers from the Jets.

Seferian-Jenkins played out the final year of his four-year, $5.254 million contract and is set to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time this offseason.

In 2017, Seferian-Jenkins appeared in 13 games for the Jets and caught 50 passes for 357 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 44 tight end out of 71 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100  – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
