B.J. Raji Would Like To Re-Sign With Packers, But A Return Is “No Sure Thing”

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Packers free agent DT B.J. Raji would still like to return to Green Bay next year, but he plans to weigh offers from other teams.

  • Rapoport adds that Raji re-signing with the Packers is “no sure thing now.”

A recent report said that the Packers are expected to re-sign Raji and try to bring back NT Letroy Guion, even though he had some recent issues that resulted in an arrest for felony possession of marijuana and a firearm.

Despite being out for the year, Raji elected to hang around the team, which is something that impressed HC Mike McCarthy.

I’m glad he stayed here,” McCarthy said at the Scouting Combine. “I’m glad he stayed with us and was part of the family. I thought it was good having him around, it was good for the young guys. So, hope to get him back, too. Would be great to have him back.

Raji, 28, was forced to sign a one-year contract worth $4 million after he found very limited interest on the open market last year.

Unfortunately for Raji, he sustained a torn right biceps shortly before the start of the season and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

We have Franklin listed as the No. 93 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

  1. If Raji gets back to pre-injury form, he’s easily worth $4-$5 million at NT, andwith Guion behind him on the depth chart, and sometimes beside him on the line, the Packers’ problems stopping the run should be history … Cobb and Bulaga signed good contracts that pay them very well indeed, but they didn’t ask for the moon … one hopes Raji wants to get in on next year’s Packer Superbowl run as much as they do!
