Baltimore’s Plan For Ray Rice & Joe Flacco

Now that the Baltimore Ravens have locked up DT Haloti Ngata, the attention now turns to their offensive players Joe Flacco and Ray Rice.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter takes a look at the Ravens possible strategy for both players.

“With Ngata under contract, the Ravens will be able to use their franchise tag in 2012 on running back Ray Rice, who is in the last year of his contract,” writes Schefter. “Then in 2013, they will be able to use their franchise tag on quarterback Joe Flacco, who has two years left on his contract.”

Despite being in the final year of his contract, there hasn’t been a whole of talk regarding a new deal which helps support Schefter’s theory that the Ravens will use their franchise tag on him.

We have Ray Rice listed as the No. 9 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents.
