Baylor HC Matt Rhule In The Mix For Jets’ HC Job

According to Rich Cimini, the Jets have in fact interviewed Baylor HC Matt Rhule for their head-coaching job and Rhule is the mix for the job.

Dan Graziano confirms that the Jets interviewed Rhule last Sunday.

The list of reported interviews for the Jets includes:

  1. Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (Interviewed)
  2. Former Dolphins HC Adam Gase (Interviewed)
  3. Former Packers HC Mike McCarthy (Interviewed)
  4. Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard (Interviewed)
  5. USC OC Kliff Kingsbury (Interviewed)
  6. Baylor HC Matt Rhule (Interviewed)
  7. Buccaneers OC Todd Monken (Interviewed)
  8. Former Lions & Colts HC Jim Caldwell (Interviewed)
  9. Iowa State coach Matt Campbell (Declined)

The Colts interviewed Rhule last year for their head-coaching position.

Rhule, 43, began his coaching career at Albright as a linebackers coach back in 1998. He worked for a number os schools including Buffalo, Western Carolina, UCLA and Temple before being hired by the Giants as an assistant offensive line coach for the 2012 season.

Rhule returned to Temple as their head coach in 2013 and spent four years in the position before being hired as new head coach at Baylor in 2017.

During time has a head coach, Rhule’s teams at Temple and Baylor produced a record of 36-40 (47.36 percent) and three bowl appearances.
