Beanie Wells’ “Days Are Numbered” With The Cardinals?

The Arizona Cardinals decided to bench RB Beanie Wells last weekend against the Bears after just four carries. On Monday, Wells told reporters that “my days are numbered” with the Cardinals and added that he’ll be “auditioning” for the other NFL 31 teams this weekend.

Wells has only ran for 234 yards this season, but he scored 5 rushing touchdowns. The fact of the matter is that Wells has never been a consistent player for Arizona. He’s dealt with a number of injuries dating back to college, so he’s a very risky player to depend on even though he’s still only 24 years old.

The Cardinals backfield has been a huge sore spot for years now, but Ryan Williams recently told reporters that his shoulder injury is healing just fine and just should 100 percent by the start of team workouts next spring. LaRod Stephens-Howling figure to test the open market in the coming months, so it would make sense for the Cardinals to add other running back at some point.

It will be interesting to see if the Cardinals elect to pick up Wells’ $1,157,500 club option following the season.
