Bears Agree To Terms With WR Santonio Holmes

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with veteran WR Santonio Holmes.

  • Mike Garafolo mentions that some thought Holmes’ career could be over before this move was made.

The Bears brought Holmes and Ben Obomanu in for workouts a little over a week ago, but they ultimately went another direction.

Chicago unfortunately lost Marquess Wilson to a fractured clavicle a few weeks ago, so they could use some help for at least the remainder of the preseason.

During Thursday’s preseason game, the Bears had Eric Weems lining up with the first-team offense, so there is an opportunity hear for Holmes to secure the No. 3 receiver job, depending on how quickly he’s able to pick up their offense.

Last year, Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards receiving and a touchdown over the course of 11 games.

We had Holmes listed as the No. 4 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
