Bears Bringing In Seven Veterans For Tryouts Including OL Jeff Linkenbach

Brad Biggs reports that the Chicago Bears are bringing in seven veteran players for tryouts during their rookie minicamp this weekend including four offensive linemen: Jeff Linkenbach, Edmund Kugbila, Antonine Everett and Michael Brewster.

Briggs mentions that the Bears are still looking for a swing tackle to add to their roster for training camp.

The other veterans trying out for the Bears this weekend include: DB Ri’Shard Anderson, LB Ronald Powell and Marquis Jackson.

Linkenbach, 28, originally signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in 2010. He wound up spending four years in Indianapolis before signing on with the Chiefs as an an unrestricted free agent last year.

The Dolphins signed Linkenbach to a contract back in April of last year, but he was cut loose towards the end of the year to free up a roster spot for QB Logan Thomas. The Chargers claimed him off of waivers.

In 2015, Linkenback appeared in 10 games for the Dolphins and Chargers.

Powell, 24, was taken in the fifth round of last year’s NFL Draft by the Saints. He was able to make the Saints’ 53-man roster during his rookie was, but was unfortunately waived from injured reserve with a settlement at the start of the 2015 season.

The Buccaneers signed him to their practice squad late into the season, but didn’t bring him back on a future/reserve deal.

In 2014, Powell appeared in 14 games for the Saints and recorded two total tackles.
