Bears Bringing In QB Mark Sanchez For Visit Thursday

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Bears are bringing veteran QB Mark Sanchez for a visit on Thursday.

This is the first reported interest in Sanchez since the free agent market officially opened a few weeks ago.

Chicago is clearly committed to Mike Glennon being their starting quarterback for at least the 2017 season after signing him to a three-year, $45 million contract this offseason. However, it appears as though the Bears would like to take a look at some backup quarterback options at this point in free agency.

Sanchez, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2009. He spent five years in New York before signing on with the Eagles in 2014 after the Jets cut him loose.

Sanchez later returned to Philadelphia on a two-year contract before he was traded to the Broncos in return for a 2017 conditional pick that wasn’t exercised. The Cowboys elected to sign Sanchez to a contract last year after Tony Romo suffered a back injury and he served as Dallas’ backup quarterback to Dak Prescott.

In 2016, Sanchez appeared in two games for the Cowboys and completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 93 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
