Bears CB Bryce Callahan Could Be Out For Season With Broken Bone In Foot

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, Bears CB Bryce Callahan suffered a suffered a broken bone in his foot in Sunday’s game against the Rams and is likely to be out a while.

  • Adam Schefter confirms the news and adds that Callahan’s 2018 season could be over.

David Chao explains that if Callahan suffered a Jones fracture, he would likely need surgery and his season would be over. However, if the broken bone happens to be to the base of his fifth metatarsal, there’s a chance to come back late in the season or for the playoffs.

Callahan, 27, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2015. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed him to the team’s practice squad before later being called up.

The Bears re-signed him on a one-year deal restricted deal this past April and he’s in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Callahan has appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 45 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Callahan as the news is available.
