Bears CB Kyle Fuller Underwent Knee Surgery, Expected To Be Out “Several Weeks”

Bears HC John Fox told reporters after Thursday night’s game that CB Kyle Fuller underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee this week. According to Dan Wierderer, Fuller is expected to be out for “several weeks.”

Wierderer adds that the Bears’ sentiment is “optimistic” and they have no current fears that Fuller’s recovery will drag out.

Bears GM Ryan Pace recently indicated that Fuller’s knee injury could force him to miss significant time, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

He’s kind of had this nagging injury that we thought maybe he could play with, but as time went on, you could tell it was affecting his movement skills,” Pace said. “So he’s been getting evaluated over the last couple of days and I’m optimistic that’s something we can get ahold of to make him a better player.

Fuller, 24, was taken with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2014 draft. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $9,687,002 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,300,636 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Fuller appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 37 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
