Bears Claim K Roberto Aguayo Off Waivers From Buccaneers

Field Yates reports that the Bears have claimed K Roberto Aguayo off waivers from the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay cut Aguayo loose just a day after he converted 1-of-2 field goals and missed an extra point during the Buccaneers’ preseason opener.

Aguayo, 23, was selected with the No. 59 overall pick after the Buccaneers traded up to get him in 2016. He is in the second year of his four-year, $4.053 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $634,208 and $818,415 over the next two years.  when the Bucs elected to cut him loose on Saturday.

In 2016, Aguayo appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and converted 22 of 31 field goal attempts (71 percent) to go along with 32 of 34 extra point tries and 52 touchbacks.
