Bears Claim QB Zac Dysert & TE Gannon Sinclair

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bears also claimed TE Gannon Sinclair off of waivers from the Cardinals.

Sinclair, 22, signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri State back in May. However, he was among the team’s initial roster cuts on Monday.

Zac Dysert‘s agent, Mike McCartney, announced via his Twitter account that the Bears have, in fact, claimed his client.

Adam Jahns of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have claimed QB Zac Dysert off of waivers from the Broncos on Tuesday.

  • Jahns adds that Dysert is expected to play in the team’s preseason game on Thursday.

This is an interesting move from the Bears, seeing as offensive coordinator Adam Gase has obvious ties to Dysert from their time together in Denver.

Also, Bears backup QB Jimmy Clausen is currently in the league’s concussion protocol.

Dysert, 25, is a former seventh round pick of the Broncos back in 2013. He was placed on waivers by the Broncos at the start of the 2014 season, but they later added him to their practice squad, so there’s a chance he could return to the team’s taxi squad in 2015.

Dysert has yet to appear in a regular season NFL game.

  1. So, they let go of a CB and picked up another QB they’re going to cut in a week from now. Yeesh. Can’t we just start the damn season already.

    • They won’t cut him, and they’ve got about 14-16 defensive backs in camp, and the depth they’re looking for might actually come from other teams last cuts, just like some our players might end up on other teams just the same.

        • They won’t keep 4 QB’s. Carden was already cut and Cutler and Claussen aren’t leaving. This means that the new regime isn’t in love with Fales. Keep in mind that Dysert was in Fox’s/Gase’s playbook for the past 2 seasons and probably knows it better than ALL of our QB’s. I think they’ll be looking to trade Fales.
