Bears Considering Bringing Back DT Tommie Harris?

According to Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears have “talked about” the possibility of re-signing free agent DT Tommie Harris.

Chicago wound up releasing him a year ago to prevent them from paying him $5.3 million for the 2011 season. Since then, Harris has played for the Colts and Chargers. If the Bears do elect to bring him back this season, it would only be in a limited capacity as he would most likely take over for Amobi Okoye.

He could be productive in stretches,” one personnel director said of Harris recently. “But he has degenerative knees. It will be a question as to whether or not he can get through a season.”

That will certainly be the question, should the Bears choose to sign him.
