Bears Cut Four Players Including DL Bruce Gaston & WR Nathan Palmer, Sign Four

The Chicago Bears announced a series of roster moves on Monday including placing C Dan Bucholz, TE Marcus Lucas, DT Bruce Gaston and WR Nathan Palmer on waivers.

The Bears also signed four players to contracts following tryouts this past weekend. The new additions include: OL Donovan Williams, DL Kenton Adeyemi, WR Kieren Duncan and P Ben LeCompte.

Gaston, 24, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May of 2014. Since then, he’s had brief stints with the Patriots and Dolphins before the Packers signed him to their active roster towards the end of the 2014 season.

Green Bay wound up waiving Gaston during the season before later adding him to their practice squad. However, the Bears signed him to their active roster last October.

In 2015, Gaston appeared in nine games and recorded 12 tackles and a sack.

Palmer, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2012. Since then, Palmer has played for the Colts, Broncos and Patriots before signing on to the Bears’ practice squad last October.

Chicago elected to bring him back on a future/reserve deal in January.

Palmer hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2012 season when he caught one pass for -4 yards receiving over the course of five games.
