Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo told WBBM in Chicago that both he and RB Matt Forte‘s representation have decided to end contract talks until the season is over.
This news could end up being an issue for both sides as the Bears could lose him during free agency and Forte is risking injury or getting hit with the teams franchise tag rather than a new contract.
It was reported that the Bears offered Forte a deal in that included $13-$14 million guaranteed but it was shot down.
Forte has been the teams best offensive weapon in recent years and that’s not likely to change unless he suffers an injury. Chicago’s front office has been driving had bargains with their players over the last month which has caused some issues with their current players and losing Forte would only add to this. You can expect more throughout the season regarding this situation.
