Bears Have Ego Ferguson, Will Sutton & Christian Jones On Trading Block

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that NFL sources have indicated to him that the Bears have made it known defensive tackles Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton are available for trade along with LB Christian Jones.

According to Biggs, none of the three players appear to have a lot of trade value right now, as they’re all in position to possibly be released. With this in mind, Biggs says that it seems like a “long shot” Chicago will be able to secure a draft pick for either of these three players, but it can’t hurt to see what’s available.

Should the Bears hold onto one of the two defensive tackles, Biggs believes Sutton likely has more value to the team, considering he had a small role on special teams and could serve as their backup nose tackle.

Ferguson, 24, was taken in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $4,113,203 contract and stands to make a base salary of $793,928 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Ferguson appeared in four games for the Bears and recorded just three tackles before he was placed on injured reserve.

Sutton, 24, was taken in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Bears. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2,851,068 contract and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Sutton appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 23 tackles, no sacks, and four pass defenses.

Jones, 25, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State back in 2014. He’s in the final year of his three-year, $1.537 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 this season.

Last year, Jones appeared in 15 games for the Bears and recorded 86 tackles, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
