Bears Expected To Re-Sign CB Marcus Cooper To One-Year Deal

According to Adama Caplan, the Bears are expected to re-sign veteran CB Marcus Cooper to a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million for the 2018 season.

Cooper visited with the Cardinals on Friday, but it looks like a return to Chicago proved to be his best option in the end.

Cooper, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 49ers’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

The Chiefs traded Cooper to the Cardinals in return for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick and he played his contract before signing a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bears last year. He was set to make base salaries of $5 million over the final two years when the Bears cut him loose this offseason.

In 2017, Cooper appeared in 15 games for the Bears and recorded 18 tackles, no interceptions and three pass defenses.
