Bears Re-Sign DC Vic Fangio To Three-Year Deal

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears are expected to retain defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

  • According to Adam Schefter, Fangio is signing a three-year contract with the Bears.

There was some recent buzz that Fangio could follow Vikings OC Pat Shurmur if he wound up getting a head-coaching job somewhere.

However, Chicago has made it clear that keeping Fangio was their top priority now that they’ve hired Matt Nagy as their new head coach.

Fangio, 59, began his NFL coaching career with the Saints back in 1986 as their linebackers coach. He has worked for several teams including the Panthers, Colts, Texans, Ravens and 49ers before he was hired by the Bears as their defensive coordinator back in 2015.

Fangio’s contract expired earlier in the week, which allowed him to become a free agent.
