Ian Rapoport reports that the Bears are expected to sign veteran QB Mark Sanchez and the two parties are currently finalizing a contract.

  • Adam Schefter confirms that the Bears are signing Sanchez to a one-year contract.

Chicago recently brought Sanchez in for a workout and it appears as though they’re comfortable moving forward with him being their backup to Mike Glennon, whom they signed in free agency a few weeks ago.

Sanchez, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2009. He spent five years in New York before signing on with the Eagles in 2014 after the Jets cut him loose.

Sanchez later returned to Philadelphia on a two-year contract before he was traded to the Broncos in return for a 2017 conditional pick that wasn’t exercised. The Cowboys elected to sign Sanchez to a contract last year after Tony Romo suffered a back injury and he served as Dallas’ backup quarterback to Dak Prescott.

In 2016, Sanchez appeared in two games for the Cowboys and completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 93 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
