Bears Hosting ILB Jerrell Freeman For A Visit, Giants & Falcons In The Mix

Chris Hagan of FOX 59 reports that free agent ILB Jerrell Freeman is visiting with the Bears on Friday now that contract talks with the Colts haven’t gone that well.

According to Hagan, the Giants and Falcons are also in the mix for Freeman at this point in time.

Last night, Hagan reported that talks between the Colts and Freeman were “not going well” and the two parties aren’t close to an agreement.

Mike Chappell added that the Colts could be approaching this situation with a take-it-or-leave-it offer. Chappell also doubts there’s much give-and-take going on here.

Freeman, 29, wound up signing on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Mary Hardin-Baylor back in 2008. He lasted just a year with the Titans before he waived at the start of the season.

It wasn’t until four years later that he got another NFL opportunity when the Colts signed him to a contract in 2012. He returned to the team on a restricted contract last year and is now one of the best available linebackers in this year’s free agent market.

We have him featured in our Top 2016 Free Agents list.
