The NFL announced that they have suspended Bears ILB Danny Trevathan two-games for violating the league’s safety rules on his hit against Packers WR Davante Adams during Thursday night’s game.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise after Trevathan laid a hard helmet-to-helmet shot on Adams, who was taken off the field on a stretcher.

Trevathan, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. After four years in Denver, Trevathan signed a four-year, $24.5 million contract that includes $12 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $2 million this year.

So far this season, Trevathan has appeared in all four games and recorded 29 total tackles and one pass defense. ProFootballFocus grades him as the No. 44 overall linebacker out of 86 qualifying players.
