Bears ILB Jerrell Freeman Suspended 4 Games For PED Violation

Update:

Jerrell Freeman has released the following statement via his Twitter account on Monday.

The NFL announced Monday that Bears LB Jerrell Freeman has been suspended without pay for the team’s next four games following performance enhancing substances violation.

This is terrible news for the Bears, as he’s been one of their best players this season. Chicago is already without No. 1 receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is also suspended for four games.

Freeman, 30, spent four years with the Colts before signing a three-year, $12 million contract with $6 million guaranteed back in March. He stands to make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $3.5 million in 2017.

This year, Freeman has appeared in all 10 games and recorded 92 tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.
