Bears To Keep OLB Pernell McPhee On PUP List

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bears are expected to keep OLB Pernell McPhee on the PUP list to open the 2017 season.

This means that McPhee will miss the first six games of the season.

McPhee has dealt with knee injuries since joining the Bears and he opened training camp on the PUP list, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

McPhee, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He spent four years in Baltimore before signing a five-year, $38.75 million contract that included $15.5 million guaranteed back in 2015.

McPhee stands to make base salaries of $6.95 million and $7.2 million over the next two years.

In 2016, McPhee appeared in nine games for the Bears and recorded 16 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble.
