Bears Looking To Trade OLBs Sam Acho & Dan Skuta

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the BearsĀ floated OLBs Sam Acho and Dan Skuta players available for trade. However, Biggs isn’t sure the Bears will be able to move either player.

Acho, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2011. He spent four years in Arizona before he signed on with the Bears as an unrestricted free agent back April of 2015.

He re-signed with the Bears last offseason to a one-year contract and was set to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent once again when Chicago re-signed him to a one-year extension back in April.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Acho would free upĀ $615,000 in cap space and createĀ $80,000 in dead money.

In 2016, Acho appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 27 total tackles, one sack, one pass defense and one forced fumble. Pro Football Focus graded Acho as the No. 91 overall edge defender out of 109 qualifying players.

Skuta, 30, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2009. He spent four years in Cincinnati before he signed a two-year contract with the 49ers in 2013.

After he played out that deal, the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $20.5 million in 2015. Skuta was set to make a base salary of $4.1 million for the 2017 season when the Jaguars released him.

Chicago signed Skuta to a one-year deal back in May.

In 2016, Skuta appeared in 13 games for the Jaguars and recorded 18 tackles, no sacks, and a pass defense.Ā Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 268 snaps last year.
