Bears Lose DE Lamarr Houston For The Season With Torn ACL

Multiple reports have confirmed that Bears DE Lamarr Houston does in fact have a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2014 season.

Houston injured himself while celebrating a sack on rookie QB Jimmy Garoppolo late into Sunday’s blowout loss to the Patriots. The injury was very similar to the season-ending knee injury Lions LB Stephen Tulloch suffered while celebrating a sack of Aaron Rodgers a few weeks ago.

This is clearly horrible news for the Bears as their defense continues to be a major issue.

Houston, 27, signed a five-year, $35 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed with the Bears back in March. He’s under team control through the 2018 season.

Houston’s first year with the Bears ends with him recording 11 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and one pass defense over the course of eight games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 defensive end in a 4-3 defense.

  1. Whatever happened to just accepting a well deserved handshake like man? I think the league should institute a rule where if you injure yourself on the field and its because you are acting like an assclown , Your paycheck takes a serious hit and the proceeds go to charity, Why should they be paid to rehab something the team didn’t profit from? They are the investment! Their check should be reduced to a practice squad amount until they can come back and contribute again!

  2. Hate to see the guy hurt – but I’m so tired of all this WWF crap that pro football has become. After watching football for my entire life (I’m over 60) I’ve really been turned off by all the bs that the players have become. Strutting, posturing, posing etc.
