Bears Lose DT Nate Collins For The Season

The Chicago Bears announced that DT Nate Collins suffered a torn ACL against the Saints and will miss the rest of the 2013 season.

  • HC Mark Trestman says the Bears will look for help at defensive tackle for their Thursday matchup against the Giants, per Tom Pelissaro.
  • Trestman added that it will be tough to find someone who’s capable of contributing in just a matter of days.

It’s a big loss to the Chicago defensive line who is already without two-time Pro Bowler Henry Melton after he went down with the same injury just two weeks prior.

Pro Football Focus has Collins rated the No. 39 qualifying DT in the league. Collins, 25, will be unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Chicago may have to rely on Zach Minter until they get someone else up to speed.
