Bears & LT Charles Leno Closing In On Four-Year, $38M Extension

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears are closing in on a four-year, $38 million extension with LT Charles Leno. According to Biggs, the contract would include $21.5 million guaranteed.

This contract would make Leno the 14th-highest paid left tackle in the league based on annual average.

Leno, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Bears back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,266,512 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

Leno would have been an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

In 2016, Leno appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 42 offensive tackle out of 72 qualifying players.
