Bears Not Fielding Trade Offers For RB Matt Forte Or WR Alshon Jeffery

Jason Cole of B/R reports that while the Bears have already begun the process of trading players that won’t be a part of their future, it doesn’t appear as though they’re willing to make either RB Matt Forte or WR Alshon Jeffery available for trade.

One general manager who actually spoke to the Bears about DE Jared Allen and LB Jon Bostic said that they aren’t interest in moving Forte or Jeffery.

Cole mentions that this will all come down to whether GM Ryan Pace and HC John Fox believe they are part of their long-term future with the team.

• Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN reported Monday that the Bears are looking to unload other holdover players who don’t fit their scheme.
• Jeff Dickerson of ESPN made the case for the Bears at least considering the idea of trading Forte, Jeffery and TE Martellus Bennett.

Jeffery, 25, is entering the final year of his four-year, $4.54 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $960,157 for the 2015 season.

He has quite a bit to play for, seeing as Jeffery could end up securing a big-money deal from the Bears or a team in free agency if he can continue to perform at a high level.

This, Jeffery appeared in one game and caught five passes for 78 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Forte, 29, is in the final year of his four-year, $30.4 million contract that included $13.8 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $6.65 million before testing the open market next year.

This seaosn, Forte has apepared in all three games and ran for 276 yards on 59 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 69 yards receiving and a touchdown.
