Bears Officially Promote QBs Coach Dowell Loggains To Offensive Coordinator

The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve promoted Dowell Loggains from QBs coach to offensive coordinator, replacing Adam Gase, who is the new head coach of the Dolphins.

He has earned the respect of our players because they know he can help them get better,” John Fox said of the decision to promote Loggains.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media previously reported that Loggains was considered the heir apparent to Gase.

Rapoport cited Loggains “very close” relationship to Bears QB Jay Cutler, which should help them make the transition relatively seamlessly this offseason.

Last year, the Bears elected to hire Loggains in hope of turning Cutler around, and for the most part, Cutler’s 2015 season was an improvement. Now it appears as though the Bears are likely to keep Cutler in place as their quarterback, even though many anticipated he’d be cut in 2016.
