Bears OLB Leonard Floyd “Likely” Being Placed On Injured Reserve

According to Brad Biggs, Bears HC John Fox said OLB Leonard Floyd will “likely” be placed on the injured reserve due to a right knee injury.

Fox told reporters after Sunday’s game that Floyd appears to have sustained a “really serious” knee injury.

“Leonard Floyd left with what looks like a really serious knee injury,” Fox said, via ESPN.com. “I hate to speculate, but usually when you get taken out on a cart, it’s not great. We’ll evaluate it. I’ll talk to our doctors more today and tonight and we will continue to evaluate tomorrow.

During the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Lions, Bears CB Kyle Fuller collided with Floyd’s knee while attempting to make a tackle. Unfortunately, Lee was taken off the field on a cart.

Floyd, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $15.7 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1.88 million and $2.6 million over the final two years of the agreement.

Floyd’s contract includes a fifth-year option for Chicago to pick up in 2019.

Entering today’s game, Floyd had appeared in nine games and recorded 30 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, a safety and two pass defenses for the Bears.
