Bears Place CB Brandon Boykin On Injured Reserve, Sign DB Joel Ross

According to Zach Zaidman, the Bears have placed CB Brandon Boykin on the injured reserve and signed DB Joel Ross in a corresponding move.

  • Jeremy Fowler reports that Boykin sustained a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to be placed on the season-ending injured reserve.

This announcement is somewhat surprising, given Boykin just signed on with the Bears last week.

Boykin, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He was traded to the Steelers last year for a 2016 fifth round pick after Pittsburgh sustained some injuries at cornerback.

The Panthers elected to sign him to a one-year contract back in March before cutting him loose a few months ago.

In 2015, Boykin was active for all 16 games and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
