Bears Place OL Brian De La Puente On IR, Promote DT Brandon Dunn

The Chicago Bears announced that they placed OL Brian De La Puente on injured reserve Wednesday, and promoted DT Brandon Dunn to the active roster from the practice squad.

De La Puente sustained an ankle injury while playing left guard for the injured G Matt Slauson.  He served as the team’s primary backup at all three interior line positions.

Chicago will have to shift some bodies around with this injury.  Michael Ola, who has been playing right tackle will shift back to guard, and OT Jordan Mills should return from injury and reclaim his right tackle job.

De La Puente’s contract ends after this season.  Many thought the Bears would extend him, and he would take over for Roberto Garza at center eventually.  The injury may complicate that plan, though it is not considered serious.

Dunn was signed to a three-year deal by the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Lousiville.
