Bears Place OLB Willie Young On Injured Reserve

The Chicago Bears announced Tuesday that they’ve placed OLB Willie Young on injured reserve.

This move will create a roster spot for ILB Danny Trevathan, who is returning from suspension.

Reports from this past weekend mentioned that Young was out for the season with triceps injury, so this move was expected.

Chicago will move forward with an outside linebacker rotation that consists of Leonard Floyd, Pernell McPhee and Sam Acho. Although, the Bears could promote Isaiah Irving from their practice squad

Young, 32, is a former seventh-round pick of the Lions back in 2010. He spent four years in Detroit before signing on with the Bears in 2014.

Young is currently in the second year of his three-year, $13.55 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed.

In 2017, Young appeared in four games for the Bears and recorded seven tackles and two sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 79 edge rusher out of 95 qualifying players.
