Bears Plan To Have RB Michael Bush Fill Marion Barbers Role

The recent addition of RB Michael Bush made it pretty clear that Marion Barber wouldn’t be back in Chicago next season. Matt Forte has already voiced his concerns regarding the move, but they’re strictly related to financial compensation rather than competition.

Dan Pompei tweets that the Bears head Lovie Smith mentioned that he plans to have Bush fill Marion Barber‘s role from last season, but believes that he can be a more effective weapon in the passing than Barber was for them.

Bush was very solid in relief of Darren McFadden last season but his overall production dropped off as the season went along, which is why it’s probably a good move for the Bears to limit his usage. Bush should be a great compliment to Forte assuming that he’s not holding out by then.
