Bears Prepared To Hire Alouettes HC Marc Trestman?

Fox Sports analyst Jimmy Johnson tweeted this morning that the Chicago Bears will hire Marc Trestman of the Montreal Alouettes as their next head coach.

Since then, numerous beat writers have refuted the idea that the Bears are prepared to hire Trestman. Sean Jensen mentioned that he doesn’t believe that there’s “any validity” to Johnson’s tweet and adds that  GM Phil Emery expects to meet with more candidates in the coming days.

Texans OC Rick Dennison, Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell, and Vikings assistants Mike Singletary and Mike Preifer are still scheduled to meet with Chicago regarding their head coaching vacancy.

Jason La Canfora reports that Trestman has not heard from the Bears since he interviewed with them and adds that Trestman hasn’t even been informed that he’s a finalist for the job.

Although Johnson does have NFL connections, he doesn’t have a history of breaking news, so the idea should be taken with a grain of salt.
