Bears In “Prime Position” To Trade Down In Round 1?

According to Tony Pauline of DraftAnaylst.com, the belief around the NFL is that the Bears will be in “prime position” to trade down from No. 8 overall, regardless of whether the top-four quarterbacks are off the board.

Pauline says that Chicago would like to recoup some of the picks they gave up last year to get QB Mitch Trubisky. However, Pauline adds that it will still take a “significant” offer for the Bears to make back if either Quinton Nelson or Denzel Ward are available to them.

One player to watch for the Bears, according to Pauline, is Colorado CB Isaiah Oliver, depending on how far they move back. Sources have told Pauline that Chicago has been picking Oliver’s former position coach Jim Leavitt’s brain about his NFL potential.

Pauline says the word is that the Bears have “rave reviews” on Oliver.

During his three-year college career at Colorado, Oliver recorded 82 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble and 25 pass defenses.
