Bears Promote LB John Timu From PS, Waive WR Tre McBride

According to Brad Biggs, the Bears have promoted LB John Timu from their practice squad to the active roster and waived WR Tre McBride in a corresponding roster move.

Timu, 25, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in May of 2015. He has bounced on and off Chicago’s practice squad since joining the team. He is entering the final year of a three-year, $960,000 contract and is set to make a base salary of $615,000 this season.

In 2016, Timu appeared in 11 games for the Bears and recorded 19 total tackles and one pass defense.

McBride, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Titans back in May of 2015 He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later signed to the team’s practice squad before later being promoted at the end of the year.

The Titans elected to cut McBride loose coming out of the preseason before signing him to their practice squad, and eventually promoting him to their active roster.

In 2016, McBride appeared in two games for Tennesee but did not record any statistics.
