Bears Promote Mike Tice To Offensive Coordinator

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Chicago Bears have made the decision to promote offensive line coach Mike Tice to offensive coordinator.

This was an idea that that came up earlier in the week but Tice has yet to hold this position at any time in his career. Tice has shown the ability to get better production out of a pretty questionable group of offensive lineman in the last two years so hopefully it will translate to the teams offense.

Glazer adds that the Bears will add  a “passing game” coach to pair with Tice who will focus on the teams running game and will call plays.

Chicago is said to be going back to a “ground-based” attack next season which makes re-signing RB Matt Forte all the more important. Kahlil Bell stepped up in Forte’s absence and looks to be a better option than Marion Barber for the coming years.
