Bears Promoting ILB Jonathan Anderson & WR Tanner Gentry

According to Brad Biggs, the Bears are promoting ILB Jonathan Anderson and WR Tanner Gentry to their active roster on Tuesday.

The addition of Anderson is a clear indication that Chicago expects to be without LB Jerrell Freeman for Week 2’s game.

Gentry, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Bears cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

During his college career, Gentry caught 180 passes for 2,815 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns over the course of 42 games.
