Bears QB Josh McCown “Has No Intention” Of Retiring

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bears impending free agent QB Josh McCown plans to continue his playing career in 2014.

  • Schefter adds that McCown “has no intention” of retiring at this point in his career.

McCown, 34, is coming off of a very productive season while filling in for starter Jay Cutler during his injury absence. McCown completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,829 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with just two turnovers over the course of eight games.

The value of a backup quality quarterback has never been higher, so there is a good chance that he could best Kyle Orton’s three-year, $10.5 million contract that includes $5 million guaranteed this offseason.

Chicago has said that they would like to retain McCown, even after locking up Cutler to a long-term deal a few weeks ago.

We have McCown listed as the No. player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
