Bears RB Matt Forte Unlikely To Holdout Into Season

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune expresses his doubt that RB Matt Forte will miss any time this year, despite the fact that a long-term deal may not be agreed upon by the start of the season.

Forte, who was franchise tagged by the Bears earlier this off-season, will be forced to turn down $7.7M if he refuses to sign his tag by mid-July.¬† While he is in no hurry to play under the tag, he’s a young running back in his prime, and turning down such big money at a position where mileage is limited is a highly-risky move.

The Bears and Forte reportedly aren’t at all close on long-term discussions, and as a result, the franchise back is expected¬† miss all remaining OTAs and possibly minicamp as well.
