Bears Release DT Jimmy Staten From Practice Squad

The Chicago Bears have released DL Jimmy Staten from their practice squad on Tuesday, according to Zach Zaidman.

The Bears’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Rory Anderson (injured)
  2. RB David Cobb
  3. DB Jacoby Glenn
  4. OT Williams Poehls
  5. G Cyril Richardson
  6. WR Dres Anderson
  7. OT Lawrence Okoye
  8. TE Justin Perillo (Injured)
  9. LB Josh Shirley
  10. DB De’Vante Bausby

Staten, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster but was later added to their practice squad. Seattle elected to bring him back on a future/reserve contract only to waive him soon after.

Staten has had brief stints with the Giants, Patriots and Chiefs before he caught on with the Bears a few weeks into the regular season. The Bears promoted him to their active roster in time for Week 11 only to cut him loose soon after and add him to their practice squad.

Staten has yet to appear in an NFL game.
