Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have informed DT Nate Collins, RB Michael Ford, and WR Kofi Hughes that they will be cut.

  • Biggs also reported that the Bears are releasing veteran S Adrian Wilson as well.
  • Biggs adds that the Bears are also waiving CB Derricus Purdy and CB Peyton Thompson.

Collins, 26, re-signed with the Bears back in early March, but became expendable after the team used draft picks on DTs Will Sutton and Ego Ferguson.

Last season, Collins recorded 13 tackles and a sack over the course of five games.

Ford, 24, was reportedly falling down the team’s depth chart, so it’s not surprising to see him among the players to get cut.

He appeared in 12 games last season and produced 37 kick return yards.

Hughes, 22, signed with the Bears close to a week ago, so his stay in Chicago was short lived. He originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana back in May. However, he was later placed on waivers just a few weeks later and wound up being claimed by the Texans. Houston waived Hughes last week.

During his four years at Indiana, Hughes caught 132 receptions for 1,956 yards receiving an 13 touchdowns.
