Bears Release G Amini Silatolu, Swap Out Long-Snappers

The Chicago Bears announced a series of roster moves on Monday including the release of G Amini Silatolu.

  • The Bears also released LS Aaron Brewer and signed LS Patrick Scales.
  • QB Matt Barkley was officially signed to their practice squad.

Silatolu, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Panthers back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the team and was among the best available interior offensive lineman still available in the free agent market.

Silatolu’s 2015 season was cut short after he suffered a torn left ACL in November and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

The Bears signed him to a contract in July, so his stay in Chicago was short-lived.

In 2015, Silatolu appeared in nine games for the Panthers and played a total of 246 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
