Bears Release OL James Stone From Practice Squad

The Chicago Bears announced that they have released OL James Stone from their practice squad on Saturday.

The Bears’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OL Dejon Allen
  2. DL Abdullah Anderson
  3. QB Tyler Bray
  4. WR Tanner Gentry
  5. DB Michael Joseph
  6. RB Ryan Nall
  7. LB Josh Woods
  8. DB Jonathan Mincy
  9. G Willie Beavers

Stone, 26, signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in May of 2014. He wound up appearing in 12 games during his rookie season before later suffering a torn ACL that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Stone was entering the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million rookie contract when the Falcons cut him in 2016. The Buccaneers signed Stone to a future/reserve contract but was cut loose coming out of the preseason.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad and promoted him to their active roster in December of last year. He was among Oakland’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason before signing on to the Bears’ practice squad.

In 2017, Stone appeared in two games for the Raiders.
